I grew up in Clinton IA and have been eating at Yen Ching for 20+ years. I have lived in California for the last 12 years and over that time have tried several different Chinese food places from the fanciest to the dive hole in the wall joints...none of them compare to Yen Ching. Yes the buffet is a great deal but ordering straight from the menu is where it's at. My all time favorite dish is sweet and sour chicken. They use fresh breast meat, hand cut and lightly breaded in small batches made to order. They sauce is also freshly made from scratch, not the canned mass produced stuff.
If you are ever in Clinton IA be sure to try this place...it's a must! -

Not very polite, they don't have high chairs only boosters which is difficult for a 1 year old, and when seated they never returned after 15 minutes when there were only 4 other tables seated. We ended up leaving since no one ever took our order.

Yen Ching is number one in my books and I have traveled near and far. Their crabmeat Rangoon's - great. Their Mongolian beef - great. Their service - great. Yen Ching - GREAT!
